Jumpin’ at The Junction features photographs by David Harvey of many of the musicians who performed at the legendary Brixton jazz venue from 2015 to its untimely closure in 2022.
It also includes tributes to The Junction’s two musician founder-owners, Paul Canton and Luke Fowler.
“Thanks to everyone at The Junction for supporting live music for so many years.”
Buster Birch, Drummer and Educator
“As a jazz musician, there are never enough places to play … I will miss playing and hanging out there. Paul and Luke definitely had something special going on.”
Dave Chamberlain, Guitarist and Bass player
"Between 2016 and its closure in 2022 I played over three hundred gigs at The Junction. Together they amount to some of the best musical experiences I've had. What a wonderful pleasure to play and hang out with the same tight-knit bunch of great musicians week after week."
Alex Corlett, Guitarist

Also by David, The Look of Jazz
"David’s photographs perfectly illustrate the passion, creativity and commitment of these musicians, and distil the atmosphere of live jazz in dazzling detail." From Helen Mayhew's Foreword to The Look of Jazz.
"The true look of jazz is to be found in pictures of musicians playing, or otherwise at work ... This book is a collection of 90 such moments, beautifully captured by David Harvey ..."
Dave Gelly, Jazz Journal.
“A well-produced book that serves as a memory refresher, a souvenir of recent times … his shots are well-judged, combining atmosphere and good use of the grainy properties of 35mm film with Cartier-Bresson’s ‘decisive moment’.”
Kevin Whitlock, Jazzwise
